I am the primary real estate agent for Gibson Island Real Estate, Inc., the official brokerage for Gibson Island. I have served in this capacity since 2014.
Gibson Island Real Estate Inc. represents both sellers and buyers of Gibson Island properties and properties in nearby communities. The brokerage consists of the following highly experienced agents-- myself, Laura Emmett , Corey Burr, and Darlene Reil. The Broker of Record is Lawrence Haislip. More information is available on these individuals on this website. Gibson Island Real Estate, Inc. is conveniently located on Gibson Island. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Gibson Island Corporation, the homeowners’ association for Gibson Island, which has had its own real estate brokerage for more than 100 years!
I am a full-time resident of Gibson Island and have been significantly connected to the Island for more than 50 years, starting when my parents purchased a home on the Island when I was a young girl. I have lived in three houses on the Island. I have held numerous positions in the Gibson Island Community, including Vice-President, Gibson Island Corporation; President, Gibson Island Historical Society; Membership Chair, Gibson Island Club; and Gibson Island Corporation and Club Board Member. My real estate experience, knowledge of Gibson Island, and extensive involvement in Island affairs, further augmented by my background as a lawyer, enable me to effectively, professionally, and zealously represent my clients. My real estate practice is almost exclusively dedicated to Gibson Island properties although I do occasionally represent buyers and sellers near Gibson Island in Pasadena.
I grew up in Baltimore and raised my family in Chevy Chase, Maryland. I live on the Island with my husband, Jeff, a commercial real estate executive. Jeff and I have two adult children, one a trial lawyer who owns and manages a law firm in Des Moines, Iowa, and the other who works in commercial real estate in Washington, D.C. My husband and I have renovated, built and sold more than nine personal residences, two of which are located on Gibson Island. I practiced law in Washington D.C. for ten years, including working on Capitol Hill, various governmental agencies, and in private practice.
Education: B.A. With Honors, Queens University, Kingston, Ontario Canada; J.D., With Distinction, University of Iowa College of Law, Iowa City, Iowa; licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia (not currently practicing in either state).
